In Our Community

5b 1)What sort effects are there on
- People such as families , various individuals(people of various age groups)
- animals eg. pets, stray animals, birds, etc;
- the environment

People would have a bad impression of an eg.estate when they visited the place.Pets, stray animals would not go there often because by the look of the vandalized property it is not safe to stay there.

2) Who has to pay for repairs to vandalized property on pubic/private property.

The police will do their part to find the suspect first. If they suceed to find the suspect, the suspect will have to pay for the damages. If the police could not find the culprit, the community will have to pay the vandalized property.

3) How does vandalism harm the people, animals and the environment?

The person who looks at the vandalism will think that the particular place is where the vandals hang out. Therefore, they are afraid of going there.

Conclusion

We can make our enviroment a better place to live and study as long as we stop vandalism. Vandalism can cause one to be jailed and be fined a sum of money. It will also leave a criminal record, as a result finding a job becomes a problem, it is not worth the trouble at all. So, we should think thrice before we act and not regret after something is done. We must respect other people's property and not damage it. Also, we should also respect other people's feelings as it is the basic respect we should give and we also do not hope for others to damage our things. If i were a victim, i will feel sad and angry, if that happens too many times, i will let the teacher know. Some safety measures our group can take to prevent vandalism in our school is to remind anyone we saw vandalising that it is not right and tell them what the consequences would be. If it is in the environment, we can desgin our own pamplet about vandalism and when we have free time, we can distribute it to the public.

Reflection

If we vandalise the school properties, when visitors come in, they will have a bad image of the school and will think that the students in that school have no discipline at all. People will also not feel safe at those places as the vandalism shows that the students there are bad in conduct. Class and school rules are important as it tell the students there what is allowed and what is not allowed but there are still people who breach those rules. Vandalism breach the school rules by spoiling the school reputation. Vandalism Act is a serious offence and if being caught, it will cause serious trouble to yourself and your family members.

In school

Q5a :
1) What sort of effects are there on students, staff, contract workers and visitors to the school? The students who observed other students vandalizing will definitely feel uncomfortable and go away. The former will feel dissapointed and disgusted as the school would not look nice.As for visitors and contract workers who came in that particular school would be surprised and because of the vandalism the students do, gave the school a bad name. The contract workers or any renovators of the school who saw vandalism will not want to go to the school again. Just by vandalism around the school, the students show that they do not care about their school and its properties. But if vandalism is a form of art .... it is a different thing. Vandalism for art will give the opposite effect. The visitors will feel that the students in the school have a very good talent. Therefore , this type of vandalism gives a good name for the school.

2) Who has to pay for repairs to vandalized property on school premises? What sort of effects this will have on the school budget? The principal. The principal is the head of the school. The school fund will be used to repair the damages around the school due to vandalism, etc. The school fund will have a great decrease if the fund is all used up to repair damages done by students. Instead... the school fund are for payment of excursions fieldtrips, camps and other activities for students to have fun and enjoy themselves.

3) How does vandalism affect the school environment? Some people cannot stand observing the properties of the school damaged. For example, tables in the classroom. A student vandalise the tables and made the user of the table feel uncomfortable. Sometimes... there are scratches and permanent marks on them.Even worst dust might appear. This problem creates the school environment unconducive and inconvenient for students and other user of the school.

Who are the culprits and why do they vandalise?

They are teenagers and young adults. Often, they vandalise because they think it is funny or because they want attention or to feel big. They are sometimes bored and looking for some fun. If they are bored, they should not vandalise property and instead do other things such as sports or go out with people or etc. For example if someone vandalise your property, you will feel frustrated and angry. It will also cause some inconvenience.
